After almost a month of traveling, the time has come to begin the (long) journey home. An idea last fall became an adventure of a lifetime and an amazing introduction to Asia.

As I sit here at Narita Airport in Japan listening to the Phil Collins song in the title, San Francisco seems like months ago, and home even longer than that. This adventure came at a perfect time and went even better than I hoped it would. I’ve been SO lucky with weather on my travels this year. Yes, the trip was hotter than I expected post-Singapore, but save for one night in the Japanese mountains, the trip was rain-free. The weather even cooled a bit in Tokyo the last two days, a little relief before returning to balmy South Florida.

So many highlights, too many to list. Three days reacquainting myself with San Francisco and catching a Giants game with my friend Art. A week in amazing and futuristic Singapore including the F1 Grand Prix of the year. And the coup de grace, two weeks exploring Japan with a great group of travelers and an excellent and friendly guide. One of my favorite parts of a group tour are the friends made and experiences shared, and this G Adventures tour was one of the best on both counts. Fellow Autumn Equinox Japan Express tour members, I look forward to following your adventures and hope our paths will cross again one day! (For more karaoke? Lol)

I realize I’m very lucky to be able to take trips like this. They have helped shaped my world view, have introduced me to concepts, food and people I may never have experienced at home, and give me memories for a lifetime.

Fulfilled! But ready to go home. Until the next adventure…
