Bonjour from a very toasty Paris! I arrived a couple hours ago after a very smooth ride on the Eurostar train from Brussels. Checked into the hotel and relaxing a bit before heading out to my first Olympics event, Men’s Gymnastics Team Final, this evening.

Had a great day yesterday visiting the Belgian Grand Prix at the beautiful Spa-Francorchamps circuit in eastern Belgium. Nestled in the Ardennes Forest, the circuit hosted its first race in 1925 and at a length of 7km is the longest lap in F1 each season. A history buff, I was excited to be in the very forests that featured in 1944’s “The Battle of the Bulge.”

This was the third European circuit I’ve visited (Monza in Italy and Silverstone in England as well) and it’s my favorite so far. With all the hills, there are great vantage points throughout the circuit, and it’s easy to walk/hike from area to area. My feet can attest to that as I managed to cover 8 miles at the track.

Watching some F2 action during my hike thru Spa

Had a great view of the legendary Eau Rouge hill climb a few seconds after the start

Really enjoyed my two days in Belgium 🇧🇪. 7 years ago I’d visited Brussels and didn’t care for it. Glad my return trip was a good one and I look forward to returning again one day.

Very excited to start the Olympic portion of my trip this evening. Gymnastics tonight, tennis tomorrow and swimming tomorrow night will be a whirlwind introduction. Looking forward to it 👍
